Why Minimal?

In a world of distractions, sometimes simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Our minimal clock strips away everything except what matters: the time.

Perfect for fullscreen display on a secondary monitor, as a desk clock, or whenever you want time without the clutter.

What Is a Minimal Clock?

A minimal clock reduces timekeeping to its essentials: large, high-contrast digits and nothing else. This clock reads the time from your device once per second and renders it in an ultra-light monospaced typeface with tabular figures, so the digits never shift position as they change. There are no ads inside the display, no ticking audio, and no visual clutter — just the time, sized to fill the screen.

Display Options Explained

  • Show Seconds: Off by default for a calmer display. Turn it on when you need second-level precision, such as timing short tasks or syncing with a broadcast.
  • 24-Hour Format: Toggles between 24-hour time (14:30) and 12-hour time with an AM/PM indicator (2:30 PM).
  • Show Date: Adds the full weekday, month, day, and year beneath the digits — useful when the clock doubles as a wall display.
  • Show Separator: Controls the blinking colon between hours and minutes. It blinks once per second, mimicking classic digital clocks; switch it off for a completely static display.

12-hour vs 24-hour time

The 24-hour format is the international standard (used across Europe, in aviation, medicine, and the military) and removes any AM/PM ambiguity. The 12-hour format remains the everyday convention in the United States, Canada, and Australia. This clock defaults to 24-hour; one tap switches conventions.

Fullscreen Mode

Press the Fullscreen button to expand the clock to your entire screen — ideal for turning a spare monitor, laptop, or tablet into a dedicated desk clock. Press the button again or hit Esc to exit. Pair fullscreen with dark mode for a low-glare display that works well in a dim room or on camera behind you during video calls.

Common Uses

  • Second-monitor clock: Keep the time visible at a glance without a cluttered taskbar or menu bar.
  • Streaming and recording: A clean on-screen clock for livestreams, webinars, or classroom recordings.
  • Focus sessions: A distraction-free display while you work — no notifications, widgets, or news.
  • Events and waiting rooms: A large readable clock on any screen with a browser, no installation needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the minimal clock?+

The clock reads your device's system time every second, so it is exactly as accurate as your computer or phone. Modern operating systems sync their clocks with internet time servers (NTP), which keeps them within a fraction of a second of official time.

How do I make the clock fill my whole screen?+

Click the Fullscreen button below the display. The clock expands to occupy the entire screen with nothing else visible. Press Esc or click Exit Fullscreen to return to the normal page view.

Will my screen stay on while the clock is displayed?+

The page itself does not override your device's sleep settings, so a laptop or phone may still dim after its usual timeout. If you want a permanent desk clock, set your display sleep timer to Never (or a long duration) in your system settings while the clock is open.

Can I switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time?+

Yes. Use the 24-Hour Format toggle beneath the display. In 12-hour mode an AM/PM indicator appears under the digits; in 24-hour mode hours run from 00 to 23 with no indicator needed.

Is the minimal clock free, and does it work on mobile?+

Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, and it runs entirely in your browser using your device's own clock — no data is sent anywhere. The digits scale responsively, so it works as a bedside or desk clock on phones and tablets as well as desktops.
