Currently, our tournament bracket generator supports single elimination tournaments, where participants are eliminated after one loss. This is the most common tournament format used in many sports playoffs and competitions. We plan to add support for double elimination (where participants must lose twice to be eliminated) and round-robin tournaments (where each participant plays against every other participant) in future updates.
How many teams or players can I add to a tournament?
Our bracket generator supports tournaments of any size, from as few as 2 participants to as many as you need. The system will automatically create the appropriate number of rounds and structure the bracket accordingly. For tournaments with numbers of participants that aren't powers of 2 (like 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.), the system will automatically add "bye" matches in the first round to ensure that later rounds have the correct number of matches.
How do the seedings work in the bracket?
Seedings determine the initial placement of participants in the bracket and typically reflect their relative skill levels or rankings. In our tool, teams are initially ordered by the sequence you add them, with the first team entered being seed #1. You can manually adjust seedings by dragging and dropping teams in the desired order before generating the bracket. The bracket is then created to ensure that higher seeds (lower numbers) have the advantage of potentially meeting lower seeds in later rounds, following standard tournament seeding practices.
Can I save my tournament for later?
Yes, you can export your tournament as a JSON file by clicking the "Export" button after generating your bracket. This saves all the tournament data including teams, bracket structure, and current match results. While we don't currently offer cloud saving, this export feature allows you to save your tournament state locally and potentially import it back later. The exported file captures all information about your tournament, making it easy to resume management at any point.
