Understanding Leap Years

Leap years have 366 days instead of 365, with February having 29 days instead of 28. This extra day compensates for the fact that Earth's orbit around the Sun takes about 365.25 days.

A year is a leap year if it's divisible by 4, except for century years, which must be divisible by 400.
